Wow. It is all too tempting to tear through this intricately woven tale in a day, just to see how it ends... but trust me - You will want to savor this story. (Thank goodness there are more to come!) There is so much to be found in the details, that I can imagine reading and re-reading it, finding things I missed each time. The characters are complex yet relatable, and the imagery is incredible. The author has a gift for painting a picture, such that you feel you are seeing and reading all at once. I found my heart racing along with the characters as they were transported back in time. It is hard to believe that this is Sasinowski's first published novel. It certainly won't be his last! Escape into another world and read Heir of Ra. Young adults and older readers alike will enjoy every delicious detail. Well done! The plot and pacing of “Heir of Ra” get 5 stars. Once I started reading, it was hard to stop!The characters were likable (or hatable, for the evil ones), and played well off each other. Character development was spot on, and surprises kept coming (believably) until the end. The author asks fascinating questions; so often we conjecture at what technology we’ll have in 5, 10, 100 years...but rarely, if ever, do we think to ask about technology from the past—let alone a few millennia ago.For me, I was personally put off by the language (which defo could’ve been worse, but still a bit jarring), an after-bed scene, and a few descriptions of violence that were almost too vivid. The author is super talented at creating mental images, which is great! Just sometimes I could picture the scenes too well, haha.
